Abstract Objective To compare the performance of cryobal oon ablation(CBA) and radiofrequency ablation(RFCA) of atrial fibril ation and their different effects on myocardial injury and inflammation. Methods Eighty patients with drug- resistant paroxysmal atrial fibril ation were enrol ed. Half of them underwent CBA and other half underwent RFCA. Ablation duration, procedural time and fluoroscopy time were compared. Creatinine kinase- MB (CK- MB) and troponin I (TnI) were measured before and at 0,6,12,24 hours after the procedure. C- reactive protein (CRP)and body temperature were measured before and at 24 hours after the procedure. Results The ablation time and procedural duration decreased and fluoroscopy time increased in CBA group[(37.2±7.0)min, (111.6±19.2)min, (22.4±8.1)min] compared with RFCA group[(42.5±13.2)min, (135.5±35.0)min, (13.1±3.2)min](P<0.05或0.01). CK- MB, TnI and CRP levels were significantly higher in CBA group than RFCA group. There was no significant difference of the incidence and degree of fever after procedures between the two groups. Conclusion CBA of atrial fibril ation may shorten ablation time with obvious myocardial lesion.
