Abstract Objective To explore the relationship of arterial stiffness and isolated diastolic hypertension(IDH). Meth-ods Brachial- ankle pulse wave velocity(baPWV) were measured in 60 IDH patients, 60 combined systolic- diastolic hy-pertension (SDH) patients and 58 healthy persons (control group). Results There was no significant difference of age, total cholesterol and blood glucose among three groups. Body mass index and blood uric acid were significantly higher (P<0.05) in IDH group and SDH group than in control group. BaPWV value in IDH group was a little lower than that in SDH group, but significantly higher than that in control group(P<0.01). There was significant difference of baPWV value in patients with different degree of IDH (P<0.05). Conclusion Arterial elasticity decreases in patients with IDH and more significantly in those with higher IDH.
