Abstract Objective To study the clinical features and outcomes of in-hospital patients with non-ST-segment elevation acute myocardial infarction. Methods One hundred five patients with acute myocardial infarction were retrospective studied and divided into two groups, non-ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI) group (n=37) and ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI } group (n=68) according to the ST-segment changes of electrocardiogram on admission. Results There were more females (41%) in NSTEMI group and the patients were older (71%). Symptoms of patients with NSTEMI were atypical. Both groups had the same changes in coronary arteries (P > 0.05). There were more lesion located in main arteries and total occlusion in STEMI group than that in NSTEMI group (P< 0.05). The patients in NSTEMI group had more collateral branches to infarct-related arteries than those in STEMI group. The general incidence of in-hospital adverse events including recurrent myocardial infarction, stroke, need for PCI,cardiac failure and so on in STEMI group than those in NSTEMI group (P<0.01),however, the mortality of in-hospital patients and incidence of gastrointestinal bleeding were not statistically significantly different in two groups (P > 0.05).Conclusion The Patients with NSTEMI are older and more females compared with STEMI. Patients with NSTEMI have atypical symptoms and angiography findings. In-hospital outcomes are little better in patients with NSTEMI than those in STEMI group.
