Abstract Objective To measure normal reference value of electrocardiographic sinus QRS- T angle of healthy adults in the frontal and horizontal planes for improving clinical application of these values. Methods Frontal and horizontal QRS- T angle and T- wave axis were measured from 12- lead electrocardiogram in 100 healthy adults with sinus rhythm(50 male and 50 female, aged from 23 to 58 years ). The absolute and relative values of QRS- T angle (QRS- Ta and QRS- Tr) in frontal and horizontal planes were calculated. Results In male, female and the whole group, the fronal QRS- Ta were 19.00°±12.88°(6.25°~44.25°),18.86°±12.44°(5.52°~43.24°)and 18.93°±12.60°(5.77°~43.63°), the QRS- Tr were- 8.48° ±21.47°(- 50.56°~+33.60°),- 16.94°±14.99°(- 46.32°~+12.44°)and- 12.71°±18.91°(- 49.77°~+24.35°), the horizontal QRS- Ta were 52.92°±24.97°(3.98°~101.86°), 30.60°±20.86°(10.29°~71.49°) and 41.79°±25.49°(8.20°~91.72°), the QRS- Tr were 52.80°±25.23°(+3.35°~+102.25°), 27.32°±25.08°(- 21.84°~+76.48°)and 40.06°±28.11°(- 15.04°~+95.16°), respectively. There was a significant difference of frontal QRS- Tr angle, horizontal QRS- Ta and QRS- Tr between male and female group (P=0.025,0.000 and 0.000 respectively). Conclusion The study preliminarily provides normal reference ranges of QRS- Ta and QRS- Tr in healthy adults.
